FRIENDS OF BIKE BARN
Our Incredible Partners
We don't like to brag, but we have a lot of friends here at Bike Barn! We're incredibly honored to partner with so many incredible organizations. Learn more about the local cycling groups that we're privileged to work with to make our communities better places to live, work, and ride.
Bike Houston is a 100% volunteer group dedicated to making Houston a better place for all types of cyclists. For more than 40 years, Bike Houston has been working with Houston’s cycling community to be a voice for everyone who rides a bike. Recently they have helped with the passage of the Parks by You bond initiative supporting $100 million for trails along the bayous, Houston B-Cycle, and the Safe Passing Law. Your support helps them communicate with local government agencies as well as other national and state-level bicycle advocacy groups such as BikeTexas and the League of American Cyclists. The BP MS 150 is a two-day fundraising ride organized by the National MS Society: Lone Star. Bike Barn has been supporting this ride since its inception. Our team members have contributed over $1.5 million to the MS Society over the years. We love the folks over at the MS Society and think they do a terrific job in exposing new riders to the joys of cycling, provide a lifetime memory, and are doing great work. Houston BCycle is a bike sharing program that works as an additional transportation alternative for people living and visiting Houston. At its core, a public bike sharing system is intended to be used for short trips in and around downtown Houston and surrounding urban areas. Houston BCycle members can pick up a bike at any station and return it to that same station or any other station when they’re done. For information on membership, click here.
Houston Parks Board: Parks by YOU
The Houston Parks Board is embarking on the boldest and most exciting capital project in its history: Bayou Greenways 2020. This ambitious project will significantly expand and enhance Houston’s parks system, creating within the city limits, a continuous system of 150 miles of parks and trails along Houston’s bayous. Over the next seven years, Bayou Greenways 2020 will transform the city we love into one of the best quality-of-life cities in the nation! For more information, click here.
Galveston Bay Foundation
Bike Barn supports Bike Around the Bay, a fully supported two-day, 180-mile bicycle ride around Galveston Bay that showcases its natural beauty. This ride benefits the Galveston Bay Foundation, and is now in its seventh year. Many people are unaware of the rich ecological diversity that is so close in proximity to Houston, and this event was designed to bring awareness of its importance. It is one of our favorite rides with some great memories along the bay, the beach, a ferry ride and some iconic Houston Bridges.
Red, White & Bike
Children and younger siblings of our soldiers, especially those soldiers who have been wounded or will not be coming home, make a special sacrifice. Operation Red, White and Bike is dedicated to recognizing this incredible sacrifice that is too often overlooked. This is done through a special gift of a world-class bicycle from Red, White and Bike for these little heroes; the young sons, daughters, and siblings of our country's Purple Heart recipients and soldiers killed in action. Bike Barn is proud to support this cause and be a part of this ride each year. For more information on this initiative, click here. And make sure to LIKE them on Facebook!
