Changing from a simple fluid trainer to the Hammer has revolutionized indoor cycling for me. Riding on the trainer is a necessary component of training year round where I live. While necessary, I wouldn't say I generally enjoyed it for years. With the Hammer I've found myself defaulting to riding indoors, pairing it with online virtual riding software is far more entertaining and engaging than watching Sports Center or Netflix. My wife commented about how much quieter it is compared to my old wheel-on fluid trainer, she has to poke her head into the basement to hear if I'm training rather than everyone in the house knowing from the noise and squeaking. Additionally, not having to worry about tire wear is amazing!

      Comments:

This is my first smart trainer and I love the way it enhances my training. For really short hard intervals I can set it to resistance and go as hard as I can. Then for longer intervals (especially long Ironman prep rides) I can set it to ERG and let the trainer take care of the resistance for me.

The hammer has offered so much for my training. It pairs very nicely with Zwift and I can select different ride options depending on what my focus is. I can also coordinate my rides with friends or other groups who are on Zwift. This is the closest any indoor trainer has come to feeling like I'm on the road and has truly helped me become stronger. I no longer have any legit excuses to not train!

I thought that I was going to use it during winter or weather days only, but the resistance feedback from my CycleOps Hammer is so realistic than I use it more than I ride outside. With zwift for example there are so many group rides, races and workout that makes indoor trainer so much fun, no stop lights, no crazy drivers, no cold or hot days, I can control how and when do my workout without worry about anything, and you will be also watching all yours TV show at the same time.

              Comments:

Amazing Trainer. When I set out to get a trainer, I was hesitant if I needed a smart trainer or direct drive trainer. Sure, non-direct drive trainers are cheaper and just as effective, right? The answer is no. A direct drive trainer in my opinion, is far superior to a "tire on" trainer. The greatest benefits of direct drive include realistic road feel, enhanced zwift experience, and a better training session. A common complaint of wheel on trainers are that they don't feel great. The resistance feels choppy and your power actually reads high indoors than on the road due to the lack of a freewheel when you are in your dead-spot. The Hammer feels just like the road and performs flawlessly. When paired with Zwift, you get an amazing experience due to the automatic change in resistance to simulate gradients. Intervals on the Hammer also become more interactive. When your interval starts, the trainer adjusts to that power and you have to maintain said effort until it is finished. Otherwise the gear will creep up on you and you will have to work harder. Overall, the Hammer trainer makes winter training that much more enjoyable and beneficial.
